Battle-Cruiser – “Behemoth,” “Hercules,” or “Minotaur” Class
These great fortresses of the sky combine the functions of a battleship and a strike carrier, often parking in orbit above a planetary command base and offering support in the form of deployed aerospace vehicles, drop-pod supplies, and targeted blasts from the ship's spinal weapon battery – either a nuclear missile launcher, or the dreaded Yamato laser cannon. They're also capable of atmospheric flight, and can hover over an area to rain down burning death from their many laser turrets.

Super-Cruiser – “Gorgon” or “Loki” Class
Someone high up in the Terran military-industrial chain of command evidently felt that, being only the size of a small city, the normal Battle-Cruiser just wasn't big enough. Enter the Super-Carrier: large enough to mount multiple primary weapons, and often carrying an entire Space Marine Expeditionary Unit in addition to the standard complement of fighters and landing shuttles. The Defensive Matrix, a development of reverse-engineered Protoss technology, diverts all weapon power to an energy shield; like Plasma Shields, they ignore most armor-piercing modifiers, but unlike Protoss force fields, they stop outgoing attacks as well as incoming.

*Power down all weapon systems to gain 100 dDR (Ablative, Force Field, Hardened 3); no weapon use is possible while the matrix is up. Once the matrix has been breached (or intentionally powered down), it can't be activated again for at least 15 minutes.
